Start the evening together with a reserved seat at a festively set ballroom table and a three-course meal—either right in the ballroom at a table for ten or in one of the boxes at a table for four. Or stroll through the concert hall from the very beginning: from one encounter to the next, from culinary discoveries back to the dance floor, and on through a special night. What is the " Hauptstadtball"?
The " Hauptstadtball " is the VBKI's annual gala in Berlin. It carries on the tradition of the former "Ball der Wirtschaft" and will take place for the 75th time in 2027—with a new name and, for the first time, at the Konzerthaus Berlin.
When and where will the 2027 " Hauptstadtball " take place?
The " Hauptstadtball " will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2027, at the Konzerthaus Berlin on Gendarmenmarkt. This is the first time the ball will be held at this venue.
Who organizes the " Hauptstadtball"?
The event continues to be organized by the VBKI, the Association of Berlin Merchants and Industrialists. The VBKI has been hosting the ball since the 1950s.
Who's coming to the " Hauptstadtball"?
The " Hauptstadtball " brings together people from the worlds of business, politics, government, culture, and the media—as well as entrepreneurs, creative professionals, and international guests. The focus is on networking, exchange, and a special evening together in Berlin.
Do I have to be a member of the VBKI to attend the " Hauptstadtball "?
No. The " Hauptstadtball " is also open to guests and non-members. However, VBKI members and VBKI Juniors receive special rates on "Flanierkarten."
TICKETS AND PRICES
What are some ways to experience the " Hauptstadtball "?
You can enjoy the evening as a seated guest or as a walking guest. Seated guests are assigned a specific seat and enjoy a 3-course meal. Walking guests move through the concert hall without a specific table; the culinary offerings at the stations in the walking area are included in the ticket price.
Which pool tables can be reserved?
You can choose between a table for 10 in the grand ballroom for €8,270.50 (gross) and a table for 4 in the box seats for €3,308.20 (gross). Both options include a 3-course meal for all guests at the table.
How much do the walking tour maps cost?
VBKI members pay €395 gross; VBKI Juniors pay €300 gross. The regular guest price for non-members is €595 gross. Ticket sales for external guests begin on October 7, 2026.
When do tickets go on sale?
Ticket sales for external guests will begin on October 7, 2026. The booking methods and dates for VBKI members and VBKI Juniors will be announced separately.
How can I book tickets?
Bookings are made online through the ticket section at hauptstadtball.de. There are two separate options there:
"Reserve a table" for table reservations and "Get a strolling pass" for strolling passes.

Are tickets transferable or refundable?
No. Tickets for the 2027 " Hauptstadtball " are personal and non-transferable. It is not possible to cancel or change tickets that have already been booked.
ADMISSION AND SECURITY
Why am I being asked for my date of birth?
Special security requirements apply to the 2027 " Hauptstadtball ." Therefore, in addition to guests' full names, their dates of birth are also recorded.
Do I have to show ID when I enter?
Yes. ID checks will be conducted at the entrance. Please bring a valid government-issued photo ID. The information on the ID must match the data on file for the event.
Dress Code
What is the dress code?
The " Hauptstadtball " is a black-tie event.
For men: a tuxedo with a black bow tie. For women: a floor-length evening gown.
The dress code is mandatory.
Food and Service
Are there vegetarian or vegan menu options?
Yes. In addition to the regular menu options, vegetarian and vegan alternatives are available for seated guests. Menu preferences will be requested prior to the event.

Yes. A free coat check is available at the Konzerthaus Berlin for guests attending the Capital City Ball.

PHOTOGRAPHY AND MEDIA
Am I allowed to take photos during the Capital City Ball?
Yes. Personal photos and videos are permitted, provided that the personal rights and privacy of other guests are respected.
During the Capital City Ball, professional photos and videos will also be taken for coverage and communications related to the Capital City Ball and the VBKI.
VBKI AND MEMBERSHIP
What is “Bring a Friend”?
VBKI members pay €395 (gross) for a Flanierkarte, which is €200 less than regular guests. VBKI Juniors receive even more favorable rates at €300 (gross).
How do I become a member of the VBKI?
